How to Take Your Measurements

To help choose the right size, you will need to measure your bust, waist, hip, and inseam.

Use a tape measure over your underwear or form fitting clothing and compare your body measurements with those on our size chart, choosing the size that closest matches your measurements. If you do not have a dress makers measuring tape (one that is soft and can hug your body), you can use a piece of string to place around your body, mark the length and then spread the string out on a long ruler or your favorite cereal box (if you do not have a ruler).

The chart below indicates where to measure your body.

To ensure a perfect fit for your clothing, it’s essential to take accurate body measurements. Here’s a detailed guide on how to measure your chest, waist, hips, and inseam:

Chest Measurement
  1. Preparation: Remove any bulky clothing. For women, wear the bra you usually wear.
  2. Positioning the Tape: Stand up straight with your arms relaxed at your sides. Wrap a soft measuring tape around the fullest part of your chest, which is typically at nipple height. Ensure the tape is horizontal and snug but not tight.
  3. Reading the Measurement: Look in a mirror to ensure the tape is level all the way around. The measurement is where the end of the tape meets the remaining length. Avoid looking down as this can skew the measurement.
Waist Measurement
  1. Preparation: Stand up straight and exhale naturally. Remove or raise your shirt to expose your waist.
  2. Finding the Waist: Locate the narrowest part of your torso, usually above the belly button and below the rib cage.
  3. Positioning the Tape: Wrap the tape measure around this narrowest part, ensuring it is parallel to the ground and snug but not compressing the skin.
  4. Reading the Measurement: The measurement is where the end of the tape meets the remaining length. Make sure the tape is not twisted and is level all the way around.
Hip Measurement
  1. Preparation: Stand with your feet together and remove any outer garments.
  2. Finding the Hips: Identify the widest part of your hips, which is usually around the fullest part of your buttocks.
  3. Positioning the Tape: Wrap the tape measure around the widest part, ensuring it is level and snug but not tight.
  4. Reading the Measurement: Look in a mirror to ensure the tape is straight and level. The measurement is where the end of the tape meets the remaining length.
Inseam Measurement
  1. Preparation: Wear a pair of well-fitting pants or stand in your underwear.
  2. Using Pants: Lay the pants flat on a surface and measure from the crotch seam to the bottom of the leg. This is your inseam measurement.
  3. Using Your Body: Stand straight with your back against a wall. Place the end of the tape measure at the top of your inner thigh (where your thigh meets your groin) and extend it down to your ankle or the desired length of your pants.
  4. Reading the Measurement: Ensure the tape measure is straight and close to your leg. Note the measurement where the tape meets your ankle or the bottom of the pant leg.
